Observation Deck is a body of work by artist Jenssen Smith. On display for three weeks at She Said Gallery in Toronto, the work reflects upon the ways in which we take in experience—the compositions, generated through an experimental collaging practice strive to evoke a sense of play, exciting the viewer to look at the pieces that construct their own world.
Estyr (2023)

Weaving stories and feelings about femininity, heartbreak, and the suburbs—Estyr layers lush vocals over guitar, moving between ambient indie rock and alternative R&B styles. Whether performing solo or with her experimental band Tiger Balme, she’s noted for her heart-warming stage presence, engaging audiences to laugh, reflect, and heal.

From Yang Chen’s project longing for_, this piece taps into Li and Chen's shared experience, drawing upon Teresa Teng’s Yue Liang Dai Biao Wo De Xin—a karaoke staple and one of the best-known and best-loved Chinese pop songs of the 1970's and 80's.
Similar to the composition of the piece, the music video seeks to visually reflect the structure of the collaboration as well as pay homage to the original sampled track.

ripe. is a zine all about the ways food intersects with culture—inspired by human rights, love, family, identity, and passion. With a focus on food sovereignty, Issue Two explores themes of food for the people, food co-operatives, how we can work with nature instead of against it, valuing our food providers, championing local food systems, food insecurity and how it affects marginalized folks, veganism and our accountability to each other.
